‘Pro’ means before and ‘blem’ means something unpleasant, adverse or obstacle, in the current language context.
Problem solving would mean anticipating, becoming aware and projecting a solution before hitting the event or situation that is unpleasant, adverse to progress or becomes an obstacle in the direction of efforts / progression.
Problem solving is not about resolving or repairing the past. It can be about readiness to address and deal with some consequences of the past appearing in the future timeline.
Approaches to problem solving are different based on the potential nature and source of the problem. Be it of the Spirit of Life, of the Intellect and its thoughts, of the Mind and its Emotions, of the Body and its functions, of the Social experiences or of the Profession and its technological evolutions.
Skills required to solve the problems are Identification, Forward awareness, Projective thinking, Formulation, Lateral (out of the box) assumptions and Functional maneuvering of Actions.
Problem solving deficits manifest as Cognitive challenges that limit our Learning, Training and Life-style abilities. It constrains us in being aware of our Choices, Options and Alternatives.
